We all know this amazing little green fruit is a great source of vitamin E, but did you know that it’s an anti-aging powerhouse? This is one fat I personally try to consume on a daily basis internally and yes, sometimes externally as a face mask or hair conditioner. I find avocados keep me feeling full as a snack or used in a meal. When trying to lose weight we need to limit our fat intake somewhat – so one small avocado a day is all you need.
In the January 2013 issue of Nutritional Journal shows that consuming avocados may be associated with better diet quality and nutrient intake level, lower intake of added sugars, lower body weight, BMI and waist circumferences, higher “good cholesterol” levels and lower metabolic syndrome risk.
The minerals in avocados help you better absorb other nutrients such as beta carotene. These beautiful little fruits also contain a sugar called D-manno-heptulose that helps your skin produce collagen, which can prevent wrinkles.
So the magic question how can this fruit help you lose weight, right? Well by lowering the hormone “cortisol”. Avocados are almost 31 grams of fat for an average size avocado but it’s the hearth-healthy monounsaturated fat. This is the fat you want to consume in reasonable amounts as it can suppress the appetite and is also known to lower cholesterol. Eating avocados can help shrink belly fat by lowering cholesterol levels and avoiding the production of cortisol. We’ve all heard how cortisol causes belly fat so add avocados to your nutrition plan for your healthy fat to help control this hormone.
