These brownies are a dark, rich chocolate and definitely a treat for the chocolate lover. First bite, I was in “chocolate heaven.”
Eliminate all those chemicals listed in many of the ingredients of store bought brownies. You can even pronounce the ingredients below and know that in moderation they can offer health benefits.
I like this recipe because it is gluten free and many natural ingredients. The sweetner is pure maple syrup which I prefer over agave. This treat is for that special day you want to indulge in chocolate!
Dark Chocolate Almond Fudge Brownies
- 1/4 cup coconut flour
- 1 cup coconut oil
- 5 oz bittersweet baking chocolate (I used 100% cacao bar you can find at your health food store)
- 1 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder (I had nibs so I grounded them to a fine powder)
- 4 organic eggs
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- tsp vanilla extract
- 12 oz. raw almond butter ( I prefer unsalted you can use crunchy if you like)
Blend coconut oil, baking chocolate and maple syrup on low heat until chocolate is melted. Remove from heat and add cocoa powder and stir to combine and set aside.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Blend eggs, salt, baking soda and vanilla in a mixing bowl. I mixed in my vitamix blender on low speed. Add almond butter and continue to blend. Slowly add in the melted chocolate and continue blending. Add in coconut flour and blend until mixture is evenly combined. Pour batter into lightly greased 9×13″ glass baking dish.
Bake brownies at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. If you like yours more chew last ten minutes reduce heat to 325.
